ASN 2026 Award Workflow

Academic researchers who are ANS members are invited to apply for the Illumina ANS Neurogenomics Research Award. The winner will be chosen by a panel of ANS members, based on the project’s innovation, its capacity to inspire future research, and its potential impact on the field of neuroscience.

Through this award, Illumina and ANS aim to empower researchers to push the boundaries of neuroscience using cutting-edge multi-omics technologies. These approaches provide a broader, integrated view of neuroscience, connecting genomics, transcriptomics, epigenetics, single-cell sequencing and proteomics to uncover novel insights and accelerate discoveries.

To help seed future impactful research, the award will enable sequencing for a pilot project, giving a researcher the opportunity to generate foundational data that can drive transformative discoveries. Together, Illumina and ANS are committed to advancing neurogenomics and supporting the ANS community in creating impactful discoveries.

The award recipient will receive multiomics analysis of up to 24 samples*, using at least two -omic modalities, with a total value up to $80,000 AUD.

The multiomics analysis will be completed by experienced scientists at Illumina’s Innovation Collective laboratory in Melbourne. Analysis includes library preparation and sequencing, array processing. In addition, the winner will have the opportunity to use Illumina’s data analysis software to explore and interpret their results.

*or up to 200,000 cells (in total)

Details on how to apply are available on the Illumina website.  Applications close on 1st  May 2026 at 5pm AEST.
