The Australasian Auditory Neuroscience Workshop (AANW)
When: Sunday, 4 December 2022, 0900 - 1700, plus an informal networking dinner, 1900 - 2200
Where: Royal Society of Victoria
Organiser: A/Prof Rachael Richardson, Bionics Institute, A/Prof Andrew Wise, Bionics Institute, Prof James Fallon, Bionics Institute, Dr Niki Gunewardene, Bionics Institute, Dr Jackie Ogier, Sunnybrook Research Institute, Toronto, A/Prof Bryony Nayagam, University of Melbourne
The Australasian Auditory Neuroscience Workshop (AANW) is the major gathering of auditory and vestibular neuroscientists in Australia and New Zealand. The aim of the meeting is to provide an opportunity for scientists in the Australasia region to gather and discuss new scientific developments under the broad umbrella of auditory and vestibular neuroscience. The meeting aims to provide emerging researchers – doctoral students and early career researchers – a collegiate and supportive environment in which to present their work, receive constructive feedback from their peers, and develop communication skills to excel in a research career. A further aim of the workshop is to provide the opportunity for networking between researchers in auditory neuroscience throughout the Australasian region that will provide the building blocks for future collaborations. It is also an important opportunity for undergraduates to see research talks and give those considering auditory research as a career to speak to potential supervisors.

Australasian Neurotrauma Workshop
When: 3 - 4 December 2022
Where: The Alfred Hospital
Organiser: Jenna Ziebell, Bridgette Semple
The Australasian Neurotrauma Workshop is the annual forum for Australian and NZ-based researchers in traumatic brain and spinal cord injury to come together. Over one and a half days, the program will be developed from abstract submissions and invited speakers, with a strong focus on providing opportunities for early and mid-career researchers. Scientific content typically covers both clinical and preclinical neurotrauma research, spanning from concussion through to severe injuries; across a lifetime from paediatrics through to the elderly; and includes comorbidities as well as chronic outcomes after neurotrauma. Related research in neurodegeneration and stroke is also welcome. The workshop provides unique opportunities for networking, mentoring and brainstorming, through both structured discussion periods as well as the workshop dinner.
